The main character here is the personification of a train wreck you can’t look away from. This book is not some hidden gem in that it’s never been hidden - it was fully the New York Magazine anointed book of the summer three or so summers ago - but I haven’t had a book of the summer this good since. It’s been on my mind again lately.
